Ten for Ten

This is one short and early blog entry.

In preparation for the New Year, I have taken some real and personal quality time to create a new and true vision board for myself in 2010. Inspired by the song and video for Hey, Soul Sister (see the side bar), I had some fun creating a visual and verbal vision board on an old piece of white bed board.... and it looks so cool. :-)

I recommend the process as it opens up creative juices and inspiration we, far too often, keep overly harnessed. For me, the bottom line results came out in what I am calling TEN in TEN. Yes, 10 specific goals or milestones for me in 2010.

Here they are:

(1) Lhu Global will be born on February 20, 2010

February 20 marks my 50th birthday on this planet. It will mark the "birth" day of my calling, my work and my service project... Lhu Global, dedicated to building greater communities at school, work and whole communities. It will work with youth and the young at heart, interested in creating a palpable sense of unity... the kind of unity that we can taste. More to follow, but February 20, 2010 you can expect a bouncing baby Lhu Global. I am pumped!

(2) Lhu Global Cartoonumn launched in February 2010

As part of this new project, I am intent on creating Lhu Global Cartoonumn to launch in February of 2010. What is a cartoonumn? It is my name for a column and cartoon, designed to bring a smile and a thought. To do this, my commitment is to get back to one of my long time loves, cartooning... developing my art.

(3) Own and ride a blue Honda Shadow 750 by June 2010

I have wanted same for years. This is the year!!! ;-)

(4) Baha'i Pilgrimage to Mount Carmel in Haifa Israel in the second half of 2010

I have been waiting for this for years and this is the year. It will be emotional and deep, having a chance to visit the most Holy place in the Baha'i world and pray at the Shrine of the Bab and where Baha'u'llah is buried. Imagine knowing where Jesus is buried and being able to pray at His grave site. I long for this trip.

(5) Joyful mastery of Salsa dance by Summer 2010

I am looking to master this form of dance with my dance partner, Raven. and possibly even expand our dance repertoire... Salsa by Summer, but dance throughout the year. Yummy!

(6) Complete my own personal "MBA" in community development

I have decided to build and pursue my very own curriculum in community development, calling it my "MBA"... Master in Barry Advancement. I will be spending 2010 as a time to deepen within the area of community capacity building, intent on fully being a world class expert in helping build healthy, prosperous, sustainable communities.

(7) Initiate my application for CSP in the first quarter of 2010

Certified Speaking Professional. The process will take a couple of years, but it starts now. :-)

(8) Achieve effective, conversational Mandarin in 2010

Throughout 2010, I will be in preparation for travel and work, God willing, to China in 2011. I deeply desire to learn how to carry myself in conversation in China and I want to do that this year.

(9) Make LOVE my goal

This goal is about spirit... to work, on a daily basis, to bring unabashed love to my work and my life, being a shining source of joy. I will do this by asking in the morning "How can I love today? and in the evening "How did I love today?"

(10) Establish and confirm my space and role at College of the North Atlantic

After 9 years of teaching with the College, the intent, this year, is to confirm my role and space in a way that makes sense for the longer term. I intend to do this by August 2010.

So, that is it. That is that!!!

TEN in TEN. What are yours? It is worth the time and thought.
